The Vandemark Class Guided Missile Cruiser is a class of Aegis Guided Missile Cruiser commissioned by the Democratic Republic Navy. The class is named for Navy Seal Medal of Honor Recipient Petty Officer First Class Benjamin 'Ben' Vandenmark.
The class is the first nuclear powered cruiser since the 60's.
The Cruiser has received the classification, Cruiser, Strike, Guided Missile, Nuclear Powered(CSGN). She spawned from the CG(X) Next Generation Cruiser Program.
While conventional power has been the mainstay for many ships in the Democratic Republic Navy that weren't larger then Aircraft Carriers(And other then Submarines) it was decided to make the new class of cruiser nuclear powered to give her unlimited distance and to be with the carrier at all times.
