Candovia (formerly known as Candonia), officially known as the Republic of Candovia (Spanish: Republica de Candovia) is a sovereign state in Western Europe in the Iberian Peninsula. To its north is France. To its east is the Mediterranean Sea. To its south and west is Spain.

The Candovian territories include the Labrador Territories in Aels, Catralisa Territory in Muhr, and Fortuna Territory in Logia. They are considered as Overseas Territories and has autonomous administrative powers separate from the Homeland Provinces located in the Iberian Peninsula.

Etymology[]

The nation is named after its founder, the Bourbon family branch of Cando. It is one of the three modern day nations named after its founding family other than the Hashimite Kingdom of Jordan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

History[]

The Iberian peninsula enters written records as a land populated largely by the Iberians, Basques and Celts. After an arduous conquest, the peninsula came under the rule of Rome. During the early Middle Ages it came under Germanic rule but later, it was conquered by Moorish invaders from North Africa. In a process that took centuries, the small Christian kingdoms in the north gradually regained control of the peninsula. The last Moorish kingdom fell in the same year Columbus reached the Americas.
